The Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association (PIRA) is proud to announce that its Executive Director, Michael Rellosa, has been re-elected as a member of the ARISE Philippines Board of Directors for the 2026–2029 term.

The announcement follows the recently concluded ARISE Philippines Board of Directors Election, which saw strong participation from member organizations across various industries. Joining Mr. Rellosa on the newly elected Board are representatives from SM Development Corporation, the National Resilience Council Foundation Inc., Asia Pacific College, Unilever, Airspeed International Corp., and Kabuhayan sa Ganap na Kasarinlan Credit & Savings Cooperative (KCOOP).

About ARISE Philippines

ARISE — the Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies — is a business-led network established under the auspices of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). It brings together companies and organizations committed to advancing the goals of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, working in partnership with government and civil society to build safer, more resilient communities. ARISE Philippines is the local chapter of this global network, mobilizing private sector expertise and resources toward disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and sustainable development nationwide.

Significance to the Non-Life Insurance Industry

The non-life insurance sector plays a fundamental role in disaster risk management — from providing financial protection to businesses and individuals against catastrophic loss, to promoting risk-informed decision-making across the economy. PIRA's continued representation on the ARISE Philippines Board ensures that the insurance industry's perspective remains embedded in national conversations on resilience, disaster preparedness, and sustainable development.

This re-election reflects not only recognition of Mr. Rellosa's leadership and contributions to the network, but also the trust placed in PIRA as a key private sector partner in advancing the country's disaster resilience agenda. It reinforces the vital link between insurance protection and broader risk reduction efforts — a connection that is increasingly critical as the Philippines faces mounting exposure to natural catastrophes and climate-related risks.

PIRA congratulates Mr. Rellosa on his re-election and looks forward to his continued contributions to ARISE Philippines' mission of building a safer, more resilient, and sustainable Philippines through meaningful public-private collaboration.
