The Government requested the World Bank to undertake a study on the state of Agriculture Insurance in the Philippines and to propose their short to medium term recommendations and action plan to further develop this class of business in the country. The resulting report entitled “Reforming Agriculture Insurance in the Philippines” includes an analysis of the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation; the adequacy of its coverages; efficiency of its operations; premium subsidy targeting along with their recommendations on the entry of the Private sector.
PIRA as represented by Executive Director Michael Rellosa was then invited to a high-level round-table discussion to discuss the World Bank’s findings and recommendations as well as short to medium term action plan, going forward.
